A modern polycarbonate snowguard designed to prevent sudden, dangerous snow and ice slides.
A Better Snowguard.
The increasing popularity of metal roofing has brought to the forefront its most often forgotten disadvantage...costly and sudden, dangerous snow and ice movement. As the sun warms the metal roof panels, the snow and ice melts causing it to detach from the roof and slide. Such an avalanche can tear loose gutters and downspouts requiring costly repairs, not to mention possible injuries to people on the ground below. SNOJAX was designed with that problem in mind.A modern polycarbonate snoguard designed to prevent sudden, dangerous snow and ice slides.
Two easy installation methods
ALWAYS CONSULT THE MANUFACTURER FOR SPACING RECOMMENDATIONS.
| 1 SCREW DOWN Use the screw down method on a metal roof that has been attached with fasteners screwed into the purlin. The SNOJAX can be installed in a similar fashion, making certain that a silicon smear be placed under the snowguard. A fastener with a neoprene washer under its head should be used in each of the two indented points. A hex-headed self-drilling screw, either stainless steel or with a weather resistant plating in a #14 ga., is recommended. The silicon beneath the SNOJAX and the neoprene washer on the screws virtually assures a trouble-free installation. |
2 ADHESIVE ONLY On a standing seam (SSR) roof, where penetration is not desirable, a remarkable adhesive is available, The SNOJAX must be completely covered on its underside before placing it on the roofing surface. When contact with the metal roof surface is made, a "squeeze-out" around the entire parameter is achieved, by forcing down on the SNOJAX uniformly. A finger wipe around the base of the snowguard assures against the intrusion of surface water and completes the installation. (Always apply the adhesive to the base of the SNOJAX, not to the metal roof surface. A chemical reaction takes place which is imperative to a successful installation). On an unusually steep roof, or in very warm weather, it may be necessary to temporarily secure the SNOJAX with tape until the adhesive "skims over" and can support the snowguards. |
